Personalised learning in the heart of Fremantle
IDEA Fremantle gives young people access to IDEA’s full-time vocational program in a central Fremantle location. Students learn alongside peers and mentors while building qualifications, project evidence, industry connections and a pathway beyond the senior-secondary years.
The program is an alternative to mainstream schooling rather than a registered school. Learning combines structured co-learning days at the hub with flexible experiences beyond IDEA.
What students do at the Fremantle hub
Project sprints and masterclasses connect practical work with the vocational qualifications integrated into each student's program.
Students take part in regular coaching, team meetings, community activities and opportunities to learn with visiting speakers and partners.
Qualifications, project work, references, micro-credentials and real-world experiences are brought together in a personalised professional portfolio.
Workshops and masterclasses expose students to new tools, industries and ways of thinking while helping them apply skills in purposeful contexts.
Pathways mentors help students investigate university, further training, employment and enterprise options, then build a plan around current provider requirements.
A WEEK WITH PURPOSE
Co-learning, flex learning and real-world experience
Students attend their nominated hub in person for at least three days each week and use the wider program to explore interests and future options.
Co-learning days
Students work through projects, tutorials, coaching and masterclasses with mentors available to support progress and problem-solving.
Flex learning
Depending on the student's plan, flex learning may include work experience, volunteering, job shadowing, additional training or industry activities.
Portfolio builders
Events, workshops, competitions and micro-credentials can help students test interests and strengthen evidence for future applications.

Enter through The Piazza to find the IDEA Fremantle hub. It is a short walk from the Fremantle train and bus station.
There is no onsite parking. Public carparks are available around central Fremantle, including options near Henderson Street, FOMO and Collie Street.
Families should nominate Fremantle during the information and application process and confirm current availability with the IDEA team.
